Albayalde replaces EPD director, again – NCRPO

- By MARTIN A. SADONGDONG

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde again installed a new director for the Eastern Police District (EPD), the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed yesterday.

NCRPO Director Guillermo Eleazar said Chief Superintendent Alfred Corpus was relieved as the EPD district director effective Tuesday and re-assigned to the Office of the Chief PNP.

Citing PNP General Order Number 1629, Eleazar said Corpus will be replaced by Senior Superintendent Bernabe Alba, the EPD deputy district director for administration (DDDA).

Eleazar did not clarify the reason for the relief of Corpus, who had been EPD director for barely two weeks.

“[It was an] NHQ [National Headquarters] command decision,” Eleazar briefly told reporters. “I have no idea, we just received the orders. That was the result of the deliberation of the NHQ PNP Oversight Committee,” he added. He did not elaborate on the matter.

Albayalde assigned Corpus as EPD director on June 14 as part of his agenda to “keep the right people in the right positions.”

Previously, Albayalde said the performances of all commanders will be evaluated by the oversight committee. The results of the evaluation will be the basis whether they will remain on their current assignment or be reassigned to a new one.

Meanwhile, Alba told the Manila Bulletin that he will obey the orders of the PNP chief and focus on the district police’s campaign against illegal drugs, internal cleansing, and violators of local ordinances.
