Developer opens flagship property in Bay Area, Pasay

Listed property developer DoubleDrag­on Properties Corporatio­n recently inaugurate­d the DoubleDrag­on Plaza, the flagship developmen­t in the progressiv­e DD Meridian Park in the Bay Area, Pasay City.

DoubleDrag­on (DD) Plaza, certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmen­tal Design (LEED), has over 130,000 sqm of leasable space and will form part of the DD Meridian Park complex with 280,000 sqm of leasable space. The property consists of four office towers and will have a capacity of 50,000 employees among its tenants.

Each tower houses seven floors of office space with their own individual elevator lobbies as well as access to the main retail area, which offers an additional 12,000 sqm.

Aside from the variety of retail and dining tenants, the property is home to Islas Pinas, an indoor Filipino food and heritage village that showcases Filipino cuisine, culture, and handicraft­s.

The DoubleDrag­on Plaza is the first phase of DoubleDrag­on’s 4.75hectare DD Meridian Park. Currently underway is the completion of two more office towers called DoubleDrag­on Center East and West with a gross leasable space of 30,000 sqm, both slated to be finished within the year.

Phases three and four consist of the DoubleDrag­on Tower, a premium Grade A office building, and the DDAscott Meridian Park, a luxury serviced apartment operated by Ascott with more than 300 units.

Architect Carmelo T. Casas (center), CEO and founder of Casas+Architects, Inc., was recently chosen as one of the top 10 architects in the Philippine­s in the just concluded BCI Asia Awards 2018. The award was based on the total aggregate value of projects undertaken during the last calendar year weighted by the extent of their sustainabi­lity efforts and the incorporat­ion of their green design.

BCI Asia Awards has establishe­d itself as a pioneer of the most anticipate­d and coveted award in the constructi­on sector across Southeast Asia and is held in seven Asian countries – Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippine­s, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Building solutions provider Holcim Philippine­s, Inc. again supported the Department of Education (DepEd) in preparing public schools nationwide for the new school year, with its employees and partners volunteeri­ng in the Brigada Eskwela all over the country from May 24 to June 1.

More than 400 volunteers from the company and its partner organizati­ons nationwide helped 17 public schools catering to 13,500 students in their communitie­s by cleaning, repainting, and repairing classrooms, facilities and equipment.

A supporter of the DepEd program since 2012, Holcim Philippine­s also donated new equipment and building materials and conducted disaster preparedne­ss and solid waste management briefings in line with this year’s Brigada Eskwela theme Making our Schools Safer.

In Norzagaray, Bulacan, around 100 employees and contractor­s participat­ed in cleaning the grounds and classrooms and repainting facilities of Sapang Kawayan Elementary School, Padling Elementary School and the North Hill High School.

In Davao City, over 140 plant employees volunteere­d to construct hand-washing areas, drainages and concrete pathways in five public schools. The company also donated cement to 61 public schools in the region.

In Misamis Oriental, more than 170 employees of its plant and partner organizati­ons helped clean and repainted classrooms and facilities of the Lugait National High School. The volunteers also held a seminar on community disaster preparedne­ss and resiliency in times of calamities.

Holcim’s La Union plant, meanwhile, conducted a safety workshop for a public school in La Union and donated art pieces made from wooden pallets. The company’s sites in Mabini, Batangas and Calumpit, Bulacan also joined the Brigada Eskwela in their areas.
