Incumbent and former lawmakers, who are possible contenders in the 2019 midterm elections, have a chance of winning if the elections were held today, the latest Pulse Asia survey showed.

In the nationwide survey conducted from June 15 to 21 with 1,800 respondents, 13 out of 58 names included in the survey’s senatorial probe would have a statistical chance of winning.

Senator Grace Poe registered a voter preference of 67.4 percent for a ranking of solo first place.

Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano’s probable bid to return to the Senate has the support of 55.7 percent of Filipinos. This translates to a 2nd place ranking.

Another re-electionist, Senator Cynthia Villar, garnered 50.1 percent voter preference that translates to a statistical ranking of 3rd to 4th places.

Close behind is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, ranked 3rd to 5th with a 46.2 percent level of support.

Completing the top five is Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, who is backed by 41.9 percent of Filipinos. The latter’s ranking is 4th to 8th places.

The other probable winners if the May 2019 senatorial elections were held during the survey period are former Senator Jinggoy Estrada (37.9 percent), Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald dela Rosa (37.7 percent), and Senator Aquilino Martin Pimentel III (37.7 percent), all of whom are ranked 5th to 12th.

Senator Nancy Binay (37.1 percent, 6th to 12th places), former Senator Sergio Osmeña (36.6 percent), former Senator Lito Lapid (36.2 percent), and Senator JV Ejercito (35.6 percent), all have a statistical ranking of 6th to 13th places.

Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino (32.1 percent) is ranked 10th to 16th.

Only 4.8 percent of Filipinos were not inclined to support any of those listed in the senatorial probe.

As also found in the survey, 55 percent of Filipinos already have a complete slate for the midterm senatorial elections.
