Region 1 ready for ‘Gardo’ rains

DAGUPAN CITY — The Office of Civil Defense in Region 1 (OCD-1) convened yesterday in preparation for the possible calamitous effects of heavy monsoon rains expected with the “habagat” being enhanced by typhoon “Gardo.” OCD-1 Regional Director Melchito M. Castro said Emergency and Preparedness Response (EMD) meetings were held in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur are now conducting Emergency Preparedness Response meeting to lay down their preparedness plan. Heads of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (PDRRMOs) in each of these provinces have already warned communities in identified critical areas to prepare and heed any call for evacuations to avoid any casualties.
