Bote buried; bounty doubled for VM’s killers
GEN. TINIO, Nueva Ecija/ IMUS CITY, Cavite — Justice was the cry of the family of slain Mayor Ferdinand Bote of this town as a long parade of their supporters marked his burial yesterday.
In Cavite, officials have raised to P400,000 the bounty for the killers of Vice Mayor Alexander C. Lubigan in Trece Martires City who – like Mayor Bote – was killed in an ambush last week.
Dino Bote, youngest son of the murdered mayor, faced the media in Gen. Tinio, saying: “We will not allow those behind the killing of my father to go scot free.”
Likewise, former mayor Virgilio Bote – a relative of the slain mayor – told The Manila Bulletin: “We know who killed Mayor Ferdie; the people of this town know who did it.”
The former mayor, who is the current PDP-LABAN chairman in Nueva Ecija, said he was planning to run for governor next year, but due to the slaying of his relative, he is now decided on running for mayor again.
Meanwhile in Cavite, Senior Superintendent William M. Segun, police provincial director (PD), said the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) already has three “persons of interest” in the case of Vice Mayor Lubigan’s killing.
Cavite 3rd District Representative Alex L. Advincula also confirmed he was adding another 1 200,000 to the 1 200,000 bounty offered earlier by Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis A. Ferrer for information leading to the arrest of the killing.
