Tawi-Tawi vice mayor killed in Zambo

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A lone gunman shot dead the vice mayor of Sapa-Sapa town,Tawi-Tawi along the busy Governor Alvarez Street here at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday.

The police, citing witness accounts said the victim’s vehicle pulled to a stop on a red light along Gov. Alvarez street when the gunman approached the vehicle and shot him four times using what appears to be a caliber .45 pistol.

The gunman reportedly walked away casually towards the direction of funeral parlors.

The police said Alih had just come from the city proper and was en-route to the village of Tetuan together with his driver, a lady companion and a police escort when the incident happened.

Alih was rushed to the Zamboanga Doctors Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police authoritie­s here immediatel­y adopted stricter security measures to prevent another incident from happening.

Last Saturday, a gunman shot and killed a barangay kagawad and former Rotary Club president in this city. This was followed by the killing of a lady trader and wounding of her business partner, a policeman.
