CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (PPO) has commended two of its officers for their honesty and exemplary dedication to duty when they returned valuable personal items misplaced by their rightful owners.

Senior Superintendent Chritopher C. Birung, provincial director of Oriental Mindoro PPO said one incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. last July 7 at White Beach, Puerto Galera when a concerned citizen turned over an IPhone 6 to a patrolling police team led by Senior Police Officer 1 Joerick DC Constantino.

Constantino took custody of the pricey mobile phone while on patrol, until a Saudi Arabian national approached them and reported that he lost his mobile phone while walking along the beach.

Constantino allowed the foreigner, identified as Tashir Alhazni to enter his password to prove ownership.

Alhazni successfully entered his password and thanked Constantiino’s group for their honesty.

In Pinamalayan, Police Officer 1 Michelle Wagan, who is presently undergoing Philippine National Police’s Field Training Program (FTP), returned a P1,000 peso bill to its owner, Renante S. Sapunto, a student residing at Barangay Inclanay of the said town.

The money apparently slipped out of the student’s pocket but was fortunately spotted by Wagan, who turned it over to the Pinamalayan Municipal Police Station.

“These are the kind of people that we need in our police organization, honest, dedicated and willing to help and protect our people,” said Sr. Supt. Birung.
