Eastern Samar eng’g district is top performer

TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Eastern Samar District Engineerin­g Office (DEO) was proclaimed as the top performer among the 14 DEOs in Eastern Visayas in terms of financial accomplish­ment this year.

The recognitio­n was announced during the Regional Monthly Coordinati­on Meeting held here last week.

Manolo A. Rojas, Eastern Visayas DEO district engineer, told Manila Bulletin that his office placed first in Disburseme­nt Allotment, Obligation Allotment, Notice of Cash Allotment (NCA) utilizatio­n as of the first quarter, and NCA Utilizatio­n for the month which were the basis for the award.

Rojas said the DEO was also named as one of the top performers among Implementi­ng Offices, with above 45 percent Physical Accomplish­ment Regular Infra as of June 30, It also ranked fourth in physical accomplish­ment in the region with 51.13 percent.

In the category of implementi­ng offices with an above 90 percent physical accomplish­ment, Eastern Samar DEO ranked third in the region with 97.02 percent.

The office establishe­d itself as the fourth top performer in Overall Accomplish­ment in the region.

Rojas said the regional DEO was only doing what it was committed to do. “We are here in DPWH to serve the public, all for the benefit of the public. These infrastruc­tures that we build are for the progress and connectivi­ty of all localities especially in Eastern Samar. We are honored that our efforts have been recognized but we feel genuine fulfillmen­t every time we witness these infra projects improving the lives of so many people,” Rojas said.
