- By JONATHAN M. HICAP

Singer and actor Alexander “Xander” Lee, former member of K-pop boy band U-KISS, has released a new song.

Alexander teamed up with Korean singer Marucci to form the duo AXM and released the song “Keep Ya Head Up.” He is back in Manila for several projects including the song.

Before the song was released, he told Bulletin Entertainment about the project. “It will be something very different. I can’t believe I’m doing this again for the fans. It takes a lot of sacrifice so I hope they like it,” Alexander said. On Instagram, he wrote, “The reason why I’m in the Philippines: Music collaboration project <AXM> (Alexander X Marucci). ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ – a song with meanings behind... a song to cheer you up... a song to comfort you.” “Never thought I’ll be doing music again... Hope you’ll like it. Love y’all,” he added. A few days ago, GMA Network aired the episode of “Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko” starring Alexander and Maine Mendoza. Last year, he and Heart Evangelista headlined the Philippine TV drama “My Korean Jagiya (Honey).” In another Instagram post, Alexander reminisced the drama by posting photos of him and Evangelista.

“One year ago today, my MKJ journey began... Having much doubt and worries, I never imagined how much love I would receive from our audiences (including the overwhelming mall shows). Also, who would have thought that my MKJ family would become like my real family in the Philippines, right?” he posted.

He also revealed: “A small confession: I could remember how shy and awkward I was when I first met Heart, to the point that I couldn’t look straight at her eyes during the photo shoot. But now I could talk about anything and everything with Gia (name of Heart’s character on that show).”

“Keep Ya Head Up” is available for streaming and download on Melon, iTunes, Spotify, Mnet and other leading music sites worldwide.
