Ebrahim, 30,000 MILFs gather to discuss BOL
SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao — About 30,000 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) gathered at Camp Darapanan, here, yesterday as they were ad-
dressed by MILF Chairman Al Hadj Murad Ebrahim on the newly-signed Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
In his speech, Ebrahim said that even with the Organic Law Bangsamoro Autonomous Region on Muslim Mindanao (OLBARMM) signed into law by President Duterte, their struggle does not end there.
Murad appealed to his followers to remain united and be patient as change would not come overnight.
The MILF chief added that more challenges lie ahead on the implementation of the OLBARMM.
“The struggle of Bangsamoro people does not end in signing the law, it does not end in having a Bangsamoro government, it does not end in the implementing the agreement,” Murad told the men and women who gathered in an open field inside its main headquarters in Camp Darapanan here,”but it is a continuing struggle wherein the everbody have to adhere to the aspiration of the Bangsamoro people.”
On other hand, the MILF chief does not discount that there are some sectors that are not in favor of the plebiscite.
The holding of plebiscite, Murad added, is very challenging saying that there are some people who wants to see the Bangsamoro fail.
Soon, the MILF will be transformed from a revolutionary organization into a governmental structure.
In the past, he said, a lot of people would come to us to volunteer in the jihad. “But soon, many would come to us to ask for help or ask for jobs because we are already the government,” Murad pointed.
Meanwhile, MILF implementing chair Mohagher Iqbal said before they are not discounting the possibility that somebody would challenge the OLBARMM before the Supreme Court.
Iqbal, however, said that the MILF is prepared to defend the newly signed law should it would undergo scrutiny before the court.
