CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union – Thirteen municipal or city chiefs of police were removed from their posts due to poor performance.

Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Ilocos regional police director, said that 13 chiefs of police were relieved from their posts due to poor performance based on their monthly evaluation rating.

Sapitula personally visited police stations regionwide and reminded them to perform well and double their efforts in the war on drugs.

Sapitual said that as head of the local police office, it is the responsibility of the chiefs of police to improve crime prevention and the peace and order situation.

Sacked were the chiefs of police of Batac City, Pinili, Nueva Era and Carasi in Ilocos Norte; Candon City, Narvacan, Santa, Alilem, Salcedo and Sugpon in Ilocos Sur; Santol , Burgos and San Gabriel in La Union.

“A way to ensure that the organization is working well is to see to it that the heads of units and offices are capable of doing the same,” Sapitula stressed.

“We have to set standards to continuously improve the performance of police officers in region 1 and we will not tolerate any act of laxity and incompetence with our mandate,’’ he added.

Meantime, the deputy chiefs of police in the said police stations were appointed as Officers-in-Charge.

Pangasinan PPO was given an additional one week to improve their performance.

The extension was due to the massive flooding that struck the province recently, added Sapitula.
