Araneta Center’s Gateway Mall 2: Building on its pioneering heritage

-

Araneta Center’s Gateway Mall 2 held its groundbreaking and capsule laying ceremony recently, to signal the start of construction work on a larger project that will continue to build on its pioneering heritage.

“The center continues to build on its pioneering heritage in shopping and entertainment developments,” said Rowell Recinto, senior management consultant.

Gateway Mall 2 is the latest project in Araneta Center’s redevelopments.

“We needed more space to accommodate more of the retail operators and F&B operators in the country,” Araneta Center, Inc. SVP-Operations Antonio Mardo said.

The ceremonial ground breaking ceremony was led by officials of Araneta Center, Inc. and partner Megawide Construction Corporation at the site of the new mall.

The Gateway Mall 2 enhances the center’s position as a leading lifestyle hub with its welcoming design, extensive shopping and dining offerings, and pampering public spaces. It will have a state-of-the-art cineplex with nine theaters; an organic vegetable garden on the rooftop, lined with food lessees so diners can customize their meals; a spacious activity area where events, bazaars, and other activities will be held; a Gourmet Food Hall inspired by food and dining markets in Europe; and a 500-seater, high-ceiling, fully air-conditioned chapel.

The mall, which will be connected to the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the Farmers Plaza, is expected to open in the third quarter of 2020.

Adjacent to the new mall will be the first Ibis Styles hotel in the country that will be operated by AccorHotels, which manages the nearby Novotel Manila Araneta Center..
