National University (NU) protected its spotless record even as La Salle finally ended its four-game slump yesterday in the men’s division of the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Bulldogs only needed 59 minutes in dismantling the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22, while the La Salle tossers swept the San Beda Red Spikers, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Hard-hitting Bryan Bagunas scored 22 points built on 19 kills, three aces and one block for NU, which extended its winning streak to five games to join University of Santo Tomas at the helm.

Francis Saura, Kim Malabunga and Angelo Almendras combined for 21 points.

The Bulldogs banked on their solid attacks where they overpowered the Tamaraws, 44-28, and had more service aces, 5-1.

None from FEU scored in twin fig- ures with Peter Quiel managing only eight points as the Tamaraws fell to their third loss in five matches.

Meanwhile, La Salle bucked on San Beda’s erratic plays to clinch its first win in five outings.

The Taft-based squad grabbed 28 points off the Red Spikers’ errors to also make up from its poor serves.

Cris Dumago led La Salle with 16 points while Kieffer Reyes and Geraint Bacon added nine points apiece.

San Beda slipped to 2-3 and tied with FEU at joint sixth despite Jomaru Amagan and Angelo Torres scoring 14 and 11 points.
