NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is 75% complete
The 115.55-billion NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is now 75 percent complete and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has acquired 95 percent of the Right-of-Way (ROW) for the project.
“We are working closely with the project concessionaire, Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC) to ensure we deliver the whole Segment 10 within the second quarter of 2019,” Secretary Mark A. Villar announced during his inspection Thursday.
The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is an 8.25-km elevated expressway traversing the NLEX from Karuhatan, Valenzuela City, passing through Malabon City, Caloocan City and extending to Radial Road 10, Navotas City.
The elevated expressway will shorten travel time from NLEX Valenzuela City to R10 from 23 minutes to 11 minutes via the Balintawak-EDSA Monumento and from 26 minutes to 13 minutes via Balintawak-A. Bonifacio/C3 road.
The DPWH is fast-tracking the turnover of the remaining ROW needed to complete the section between Karuhatan, Valenzuela City to C3 Road, Caloocan City by the end of 2018.
To date, the ROW accomplishments stand at 95 percent while the available ROW in Valenzuela City is currently 96 percent and 86 percent in Caloocan City.
“We are committed to deliver the remaining right-of-way so we can finish this important infrastructure that will decongest traffic in Manila as soon as possible,” the DPWH secretary reiterated.
NLEX Corporation officials led by Senior Vice President for Tollway Development and Engineering Raul Ignacio hosted the inspection of the Caloocan section of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10.
Designed to provide direct access between the port area and the northern provinces of Luzon via NLEX, this elevated expressway has been envisioned to ease traffic congestion and facilitate efficient delivery of goods to and from Harbor area and Central and North Luzon.
Included in the government’s “Build, Build, Build” program, the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is envisioned to ease traffic congestion especially along the western Metro Manila road corridor.
Once opened, travel time from the Manila Port to the NLEX will take approximately 10 minutes, making it possible for cargo trucks to improve their turnaround time for delivery of goods.
“Our team has been working doubletime to complete the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 as scheduled. We are confident that our government partners will help us realize soon our vision of providing fast and safe travel experience to the public through this project,” Ignacio noted.
In another development, construction work continues on the C3-R10 section of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 with the foundations of the elevated road now in place at the site of the future NLEX Caloocan Interchange on C3 Road.
