Peter Lim eludes warrant servers

- By CALVIN CORDOVA

CEBU CITY – Police serving the warrant of arrest on Peter Lim on Monday failed to find the suspected drug lord in his two residences here.

Senior Supt. Royina Garma, chief of the Cebu City police, said they did not expect to find Lim but went to his houses just the same as part of the procedure.

A team of 20 heavily armed policemen went to the ancestral home of Lim in Barangay Kasambagan, and another team went to the listed address of Lim in the Sto. Niño Village in Barangay Banilad.

The teams searched the houses but did not find Lim.

Garma said they received information that Lim is hiding in Manila.

Last Aug. 14 Makati City Regional Trial Court Judge Gina Bibat-Palamos issued an arrest warrant against Lim after a panel of prosecutors from the Department of Justice (DOJ) recommended the filing of charges against the Cebuano businessman for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (R.A. 9165).

The DOJ investigated Lim after he was identified by self-confessed drug lord Rolando "Kerwin" Espinosa Jr. during a Senate inquiry as his drug supplier.

Lim was also in the list of President Duterte’s major drug traffickers in the country, which Lim has denied.

Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, director of the Central Visayas police, admitted he has no idea where Lim is now.

Police has 14 days to serve the warrant on Lim, after which another warrant has to obtained from the court.

A hold departure order has already been issued against Lim to prevent him from leaving the country.
