407 violators held in Manila

Police rounded up a total of 407 violators of local ordinances in simultaneo­us anti-criminalit­y operations in Manila from Monday morning to early morning yesterday.

Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Superinten­dent Rolando Anduyan said the operation started around 5 a.m. Monday and ended at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Of the arrested persons, at least 196 men were held for violation of the nationwide smoking ban.

Among the 11 police stations in Manila, Sta. Cruz Police Station (PS-3) obtained the highest number of apprehensi­ons overnight with a total of 103 persons including 12 who were drinking liquior in public places, 34 for smoking in public places, 12 for roaming around shirtless and 45 who were violating other city ordinances.

Meanwhile, 137 men were arrested for roaming the streets half-naked and 58 were also arrested for drinking in public places.

Report also showed that 69 men were also caught by policemen for violating other city ordinances.

MPD personnel also rescued one minor who was found violating the curfew hours.

Arrested violators of city ordinances were turned over to their respective barangay authoritie­s.

Anduyan vowed to intensify all of their anti-criminalit­y operations to protect the people.
