Honda introduces 2018 HR-V

- Atty. Louie Soriano, HCPI Division Head for Sales, introduces the new HR-V crossover.

Striving to find the perfect balance between crossover practicality with sedan driving characteristics, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has introduced a refreshed 2018 HR-V with updated styling cues. The new model brings with it a new 1.8 RS variant featuring the sportier look similarly reflected by RS variants among Honda’s different models. Sportier style

The biggest change to the new HR-V is evident in its updated exterior styling. At the front, the 2018 HR-V gets a newly designed front bumper, front grille, and full LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights. At the back, new LED guide type tail lights give the HR-V’s rear a more modern look, while making it more visible on the road. Finalizing the changes to the exterior are new 17-inch Sport Black alloy wheels.

The RS variant gets an added boost of sportiness with special design elements. The new HR-V RS features a front honeycomb grille, LED foglights, dark chrome-finished door handles and door trims, and special two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels specifically made for the RS variant. At the back the RS variant gets smoked LED tail lamps. Interior changes

Inside, the new HR-V RS receives additional upgrades which feature a full leather interior complemented with piano black accents in the steering wheel and center console which does a lot to improve the cabin’s premium upmarket feel.

Unique to the RS variant is a new seven-inch touchscreen now with navigation features as standard. The new audio unit now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, further enhancing connectivity with smartphones. The new HR-V is also equipped with Honda’s renowned ULT (Utility, Long, Tall) seats which allow three different adjustment modes for flexible seating configurations for various forms of cargo. Tried and tested powertrain

Powering the new HR-V is Honda’s 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine carried over from the previous model. The engine produces 142 hp at 6,500 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm and is mated to Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology continuously variable transmission (CVT). Honda’s Eco Assist System, which consists of the ECON mode and Eco-Coaching ambient lighting helps encourage fuel-efficient driving. Safety features

All variants of the 2018 Honda HR-V are equipped with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Brake Hold, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and driver and front passenger SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA). The RS variant gets additional side airbags, further enhancing the safety of its occupants. Colors, pricing and availability

The 2018 HR-V is now available at all 38 dealerships nationwide. The 1.8 RS Navi CVT variant is priced at P1,495,000, while the 1.8 E CVT is available at P1,295,000.
