Michelin Primacy 4 launched
Michelin launched its latest generation tire, the Primacy 4. Its tagline, ‘Safe When New, Safe When Worn’ sums this new product up, claiming safety and performance during its lifetime, from new to worn state and at the same time providing silent driving comfort.
The new tires come with two innovative technologies that took Michelin three years to design. The EverGrip technology, with two features, a tread pattern that provides 50-percent increased water evacuation even as the tire wears with usage, allowing better grip on wet roads, there’s also the new-generation rubber compound, with rubber and silica better bonded together which provides uniform energy dissipation upon contact with the road and also results in better grip on wet roads even when worn. It also features Michelin’s secondgeneration Silent Rib Technology which features inter-locking bands which minimizes tread block deformation as the tire rolls and reduces air displacement resulting in a more silent ride and better shock absorption for a more comfortable ride. TÜV Rheinland Thailand Limited tested new and worn Michelin Primacy 4 tires on wet roads against new and worn tires of other premium brands and their findings showed Michelin Primacy 4 tires stop 2.5 meters shorter when new, and 5.1 meters shorter when worn versus the other premium brands on wet roads. It was also found that the worn Primacy 4 tires stopped 1.8 meters shorter than even brand new tires of other premium brands.
“Filipino consumers today choose their tires based on their characteristics when they are new. But what happens to grip and braking performance after 50,000 kilometers, or after a few years of use? In the tire industry, performance tests are typically conducted on new products. Michelin is a step ahead. We want to demonstrate that our performance is maintained with mileage and time” said Michael Nunag, Chief Representative of Michelin Philippines.
The new Michelin Primacy 4 will be available locally from mid-August onwards, available in 64 sizes, from 15- to 18-inch diameter for premium vehicles at Michelin’s authorized dealers across the nation.
