‘Dear teacher, Thank you…’

- By MERLINA HERNANDO-MALIPOT

Students in all public and private schools are enjoined to write a ‘thank you’ letter to their teachers to show their gratitude as the nation marks National Teacher’s Month (NTM) this September.

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has recently launched the “Salamat Po Teacher” letter writing for young people in celebration of the NTM 2018.

Meanwhile, PHLPost has also unveiled the special commemorative stamp and official logo design for this year’s NTM.

The NTM – which started on September 5 and will culminate on October 5 in time for the celebration of the World Teachers’ Day (WTD), seeks to “effectively promote the value of gratitude to teachers and the important role they play in the lives of the students and society.”

Hence, PHLPost and DepEd are inviting elementary, junior and senior high school students to write and mail letters of gratitude, and get a chance to win in the raffle.

If chosen, the winners will also be given an opportunity to compete in the letter writing competition locally and overseas.

PHLPost Letter Writing National Coordinator Bea Gervacio said that the “postal service celebrates teachers’ month to give thanks and appreciate the sacrifice and dedication of our beloved teachers by sending them a letter of gratitude.”

Here’s how Interested students must write a ‘thank you” letter to their teachers.

The letters must be sealed in an envelope with the complete details of the sender and addressee.

The “thank you” letters should be mailed via Post Office through the Ordinary Mail Service.

Then, the student-participants will be given a raffle stub to be filled up and shall be dropped in the designated boxes located at post offices.

Raffle entries will be accepted starting September to December 2018.
