Pacquiao: We’ll be finalizing this week
Manny Pacquiao has a chilling message to Floyd Mayweather: You can run but you can’t hide.
As both camps burn the midnight oil in getting a deal in place for a rematch being eyed for Dec. 8, Pacquiao expressed to a handful of beat writers early Tuesday morning that he is savoring the prospects of getting a chance to get even with the brash and unbeaten American fighter.
“Tingnan natin paano niya i-occupy ang apat na corner ng ring (We’ll see how he plans to use the entire ring),” said Pacquiao, vowing to force Mayweather to work every second of the round.
Last Saturday in Tokyo, Pacquiao and Mayweather ran into each other during a music festival and the trashtalking Mayweather took the opportunity to diss the Filipino legend.
“He kept on saying ‘easy fight,’” said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, who turns 41 on Dec. 17, said Mayweather was in his element during the meetup and the Michiganborn 1996 Atlanta Olympian looked serious in challenging him to a second meeting that will likely take place in boxing’s biggest stage, Las Vegas.
“We’ll be finalizing this week,” said Pacquiao, who plans to kick off the preconditioning phase of his preparation by doing morning roadwork next week.
Pacquiao beat up Lucas Matthysse of Argentina in his last fight last July in Kuala Lumpur. Mayweather, 41, stopped MMA specialist Conor McGregor in August last year.
