National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

THE Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its National Day every 23rd day of September. The event, which is known as Al-Yaom-ul-Watany, marks the day in 1932 when King Abdulaziz announced the confederac­y of the country as a kingdom. On National Day, the Saudi flags are proudly displayed along with the King’s photograph­s. It is celebrated with folk dances, songs, and traditiona­l festivals.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shares land borders with Kuwait, Israel, Iraq, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Jordan. Its capital is Riyadh, which is also its most populous city. The kingdom is known to have the richest oil deposits in the Middle East. It is referred to as the land of holy mosques because of Medina and Mecca.

Days prior to the celebratio­n, special events are held at the capital city of Riyadh where the Prince gives his speech to the nation and highlights the various aspects of developmen­t of the country in fields of science, technology, and economy.

The Philippine­s and Saudi Arabia have warm and friendly relations. Format diplomatic relations between the two countries were establishe­d on October 24, 1969. The Philippine­s and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a number of agreements since 1980, mostly under the auspices of the Joint Commission Meetings which was establishe­d under the 1994 general framework agreement on economic, trade, commercial, investment, and technical cooperatio­n.

We congratula­te the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Saud on the occasion of their National Day.
