NEDA’s Infracom approves three feasibility studies

The inter-agency Infrastructure Committee (Infracom) of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has approved another batch of funding support for the feasibility studies of three infrastructure projects.

The NEDA Board Committee on Infrastructure has green-lighted the release of 1155 million to fund the studies on whether the proposed two water and one transport projects are “feasible” to be implemented.

The 1155-million budget, the third batch of project feasibility studies, will be withdrawn from NEDA’s Project Development and other Related Studies (PDRS) Fund.

PDRS is a 11.5-billion fund under NEDA, which is being used to help government agencies complete the necessary studies for the 111 trillion worth of projects under the Public Investment Program (PIP).

The approved project feasibility studies include the Water Supply Project in selected local government units (LGUs) – SAGANA at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat – of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The Ipo Dam No. 3 Project of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS); and Pampanga Mass Transit System Project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) were also approved.

“The study for the Water Supply Project will identify reliable water sources for the construction of water systems, while the study for the Ipo Dam No. 3 Project will involve the construction of a dam downstream of the New Ipo Dam and upstream of the Bustos Dam,” NEDA said.

“The Ipo Dam No. 3 project will also be a catchment for spillage from Angat Dam to mitigate flooding in the area,” it added.

For the Pampanga Mass Transit System Project, the study will look at the establishment of mass transit routes along MacArthur Highway and within the Clark Freeport Zone.

The DOTr project aims to promote sustainable land development along the transport corridor including Clark Green City.
