Sports complex to rise in Sarangani

ALABEL, Sarangani – The provincial government is fast-tracking the constructi­on of the million regional sports complex here which is expected to boost the sports developmen­t programs of the province and nearby areas.

Sarangani Gov. Steve Solon said the regional sports center will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment including a covered track oval, lawn tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, and venues for weightlift­ing, boxing and taekwondo.

Solon said the first phase of the project, which is the constructi­on of the

multi-purpose sports building is expected to be completed by next year while the constructi­on of the three storey 200-bed capacity dormitory will be completed by 2020.

He said funds for the constructi­on of the regional sports center were sourced out by Senator Manny Pacquiao from the national government and is being implemente­d by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The building is being constructe­d at the three-hectare provincial capitol complex here.

The governor said the regional sports complex will serve as a sports training academy in the Soccsksarg­en region, which is made up of the provinces of Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and the cities of General Santos and Cotabato.
