National Day of the People’s Republic of China

-

NATIONAL Day of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is a public holiday observed on October 1. The Central People’s Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People’s Republic of China on December 2, 1949, declaring that October 1 is the National Day.

Thereafter a close consummate victory by the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the Chinese Civil War, its former chairman, Mao Zedong, declared the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is already atop from Tiananmen. The PRC has been synonymous with China for several decades even if it is the solitary and the latest political entity to administrate mainland China, preexisted by the Republic of China (ROC) and thousands of years of imperial dynasties.

The People’s Republic of China, with 9,600,000 square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), is the third- or fourth-largest country in the world. With its population of approximately 1.404 billion, it is the biggest nation. China has 22 provinces, five self-contained regions, four direct-controlled cosmopolis — Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing — plus the special administrative divisions of Hong Kong and Macau.

National Day is celebrated with the portraits of the revered leader, Mao Zedong, publicly displayed throughout the land, governmentorganized celebrations. Tiananmen Square in Beijing is decorated in a festive theme.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China have been progressively enhanced over the years, with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte leading in Philippine efforts for closer relations between the two countries. Last September 16-18, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss a proposed joint exploration of the West Philippine Sea. Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit the country in November.

As a leading member of numerous formal and informal multilateral organizations, China is today a major Asian and world power. The country is a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the World Trade Organization, the Association of Petroleum Exporting Countries, and G20.

We greet the people and government of the People’s Republic of China, headed by President Xi Jinping, on the occasion of its National Day Anniversary.
