“We already have a resolution on that when we moved the filing from October 1 to 5 to October 11 to 17. We already indicated there that we won’t allow an extension,” he said in a press briefing, Friday.
As of Friday morning, the number of COC filers for senator was already 32. Among those who filed their COCs Friday were re-electionistSenator Nancy Binay and former Bureau of Corrections Chief Ronald dela Rosa.
In the party-list elections, 22 have already filed their Certificate of Nomination (CON) and Certificate of Acceptance.
Abas, meantime, noted a more orderly filing of COC on Friday.
“Before, the filing seems to be a fiesta and a bit disorderly. At least now, as mentioned by our spokesman, dignified. Hopefully, we will maintain this,” he said.
Earlier, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez expressed hope that the filing of COCs won’t turn into a circus of supporters.
“We want to emphasize that our goal in our preparations for the filing is dignified. We don’t want to turn it into a circus of supporters. We don’t want it to be chaotic,” he said.
Local politics In the local level, incumbent Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan filed his COC at the Caloocan City Commission on Elections (Comelec) 1st District office Friday morning.
He promised to build more establishments and institutions for residents should he win again.
Malapitan said one of his plans is to build another city jail to decongest the existing one.
He likewise plans to renovate cemeteries and move the Hall of Justice to the northern part of the city.
In Pasay City, Rep. Emi CalixtoRubiano filed her COC for mayor to replace her brother, incumbent Mayor Antonino Calixto, who now eyes the congressional seat that will be vacated by his sister.
