Mactan-Cebu Airport ranked 9th as SE Asia’s most on-time airport
Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) recently gained recognition as one of the world’s friendliest airports in terms of service.
UK-based air travel intelligence company OAG ranked MCIA 9th in its Top 10 Most On-time Airports in Southeast Asia last August with a score of 70%. The monthly ranking was revealed via Instagram.
OAG measured the monthly On-time Performance (OTP) by departures and arrivals that take place “strictly less than 15 minutes after scheduled departure/arrival time, including cancellations.”
The OTP only includes airports with more than 4,000 flights.
“This ranking is a testament to our commitment,” remarked GMCAC President Louie Ferrer
But while the performance score is relatively high, there is still room for improvement. “It’s also a challenge for us to continue finding ways to deliver better, friendlier service to our stakeholders. We intend to keep doing better,” he added.
MCIA is connected to 24 international and 35 domestic destinations through 25 partner carriers.
The continuing growth of connections to Cebu are the result of an aggressive airline marketing strategy that targets both existing and untapped markets of MCIA.
“MCIA’s central location is the ideal jump-off point to other domestic and international destinations. We will continue to maximize this location and position Cebu as a central hub in Southeast Asia,” Ferrer concluded.
