Our God has no parents
GOD is described as the Ancient of Days in the Book of Daniel, Chapter 7, Verse 9. Rightfully so, because God was infinitely before the creation of the world as Psalm 90:2 says: “. . .from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” Otherwise stated, God is eternal. He has no beginning nor end. Because God has no beginning, it follows that God has no father and no mother, doesn’t it? It is against the eternity of God to say that He has parents. To say that God has parents is high contempt of God since this is tantamount to saying that God is not eternal. Think about it, my dear readers. Except God no other has the nature and essence of eternity.
*** Not only is God eternal – He is also all-knowing (omniscient). He knows all things whether they are possible, past, present, or future. As Psalm 147:5 says: “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.” In I Samuel 2:3, the Lord is a God of Knowledge. God is also called Intellectus, because He is the author of all knowledge and understanding in His creatures. In Isaiah 55:8-9: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the Earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
The divine attribute of omniscience is exclusive to God only. God did not commission anybody to be His partner in His omniscience. For God to grant omniscience to others would be making His creatures equal to Him. On our part, we should give God the glory of His omniscience by directing all our acts of worship (like prayers) to Him alone through Jesus. My dear readers, if God does not share His omniscience with anybody living or dead, how then can the prayers of millions of people from all over the world, directed to or through entities living or dead other than God be known by such entities when they are not omniscient? Oh, the futility of trusting these entities to answer our prayers!
*** Many of us say that God sees all things but we sometimes act as if God is totally blind. God’s divine attribute of being everywhere (omnipresent), that is, being in heaven and Earth at the same moment of time – is exclusively a property belonging to God as Deity. Jeremiah 23:23-24 expresses God’s being everywhere this way: “Am I only a God nearby,” declares the Lord, “and not a God far away? Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and Earth?” declares the Lord. Please note that the Lord does not merely say: “I am in heaven and Earth.” He says, “I fill heaven and Earth.” God so fills heaven and Earth at one and the same time that there is no place without Him. Again, this powerful presence of God is not shared with anyone.
God possesses all power (omnipotent). He can do anything or everything. In Genesis 1:1, God’s creative power is displayed when He created the heavens and the Earth. His divine attributes of omnipresence, omniscience, and omnipotence and eternity are exclusive, my dear readers. This being so, we should be directing all our prayers and other acts of worship only to God our Father in the name of Jesus as the Holy Bible says. In John 14:13: “And whatever you ask IN MY NAME, that I will do, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask my anything IN MY NAME, I will do it.” Again in Colossians 3:17: “Whatever you do in word or in work, do ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, giving thanks to God the Father THROUGH HIM.” (See also John 16:23-24; Ephesians 5:20; John 16:23-24)
*** For truly, if God is to be worshipped, He is to be called upon in all our necessities. As a Bible scholar once said: “Prayer supposeth an omniscient being as the object of it; no other being but God ought to have that honor acknowledged to it; no understanding but His infinite, no other presence but His is everywhere. To implore any deceased creature for a supply of our wants, is to own in them a property of the Deity, and make them deities that were but men, and increase their glory by a diminution of God’s honor, in ascribing that perfection to creatures which belongs only to God.” This column continues to give out copies of the Holy Bible for free to those who cannot afford to buy their own copies.
