"We want something new, something different. Not the usual but with a twist of ‘buwis-buhay.'"

It’s been a while since we saw Daniel Matsunaga doing a TV series but his fans need not worry.

The 29-year-old Philippine-based Japanese-Brazilian actor-model revealed to Bulletin Entertainment he is up for “big” things next year.

“I’m working on a lot on a digital stuff right now,” he said.

Believing online is the future of everything under the sun, Daniel shared he and his management, Mercator under Jonas Gaffud, plans to come up with a web series. What theme, we asked. “Actually we’re still analyzing it. Prior, I was thinking of doing workout stuff online but there’s already a lot of those there. We want something new, something different. Not the usual but with a twist of ‘buwis-buhay.’ Something that I can be proud to say, ‘Hey, that’s not who I am in real life!’” he said.

He also looks forward to producing a vlog, which features both his showbiz and personal life.

With the ‘ber months in full swing, Daniel is into “rakets,” appearing in fashion and mall shows.

Steady

We asked Daniel for update on his love life. After that much-publicized breakup with Erich Gonzales last year, Daniel has new love. He is in a relationship with Karolina Pisarek, a 20-year-old model who finished runner-up in the fifth season of Poland’s version of “America’s Next Top Model” in 2015.

Karolina is based in the US and Daniel said he met her when she visited Palawan.

“I’m very happy right now. I’m glad that things are in the right direction,” he enthused.

Daniel reiterated since his girlfriend is non-showbiz, he makes sure their relationship is kept away from the public eye.

“It’s different now. I realize it’s also a good thing that your partner is not a celebrity, my life is private now. I’m so happy that she accepted me for who I am. We have plans together so let’s hope for the best.”

Of awareness

Daniel was one of the celebrity guests at Pink Minute, Avon’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign held at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

The event saw hundreds of participants lighting up select iconic landmarks in Metro Manila in pink to remind everyone to do breast self-exam and save lives.

“I’m really honored to be part of this movement. This event is very encouraging and I’m really here, despite being men, to support the entire cause,” he said.

According to www.nationalbreastcancer.org, less than one percent of all breast cancer cases develop in men, and only one in a thousand men will ever be diagnosed with breast cancer. Still, Daniel reiterated this should be taken seriously. He advises everyone to maintain a healthy lifestyle to help prevent the disease.

“Do some sports, eat healthy. There’s a lot of things we can do,” he said.
