ROS win swan song for Chris Tiu?

Chris Tiu provided what could be a fitting swan song to a pro career that is starting to peak after scoring a career-high 30 points to lead Rain or Shine past NLEX, 107-101, last night in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Tiu, whose possible retirement has been rumored since the midway point of the season, gave everything he could for 32 minutes to produce his first-ever 30-point game, helping the Elasto Painters end their dismal campaign in the season-ending conference on a high note.
Rain or Shine finished the tournament with a 3-8 record.
The charismatic 33-year-old guard was mum about his future plans, but the way he played as if there were no tomorrow seemed to indicate Tiu is set to go on a different route.
Off the court endeavors, a growing family that includes two young daughters and a one-year contract expiring has made Tiu think of finally calling it a career.
And there seems to be no regret if Tiu decides to take a different path, especially after a season in which he averaged 10.7 points, 2,8 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
“On a personal note, I’m happy with my performance given all my other commitments,” said Tiu. “I did what I could to help my team and to be in the best physical shape and to lead the team to victory as much as we can.”
Rain or Shine management is hoping to convince Tiu, who had signed two short contracts over the last three years, to stay for one more year.
Forgotten in the spotlight centered on Tiu are the performances of reserves Jewel Ponferada, Dexter Maiquez, Rey Nambatac and Norbert Torres.
The four along with Tiu were responsible for Rain or Shine erasing a 46-30 deficit in the second quarter to take the lead in the fourth.
