Rains expected in various areas

- By ELLALYN DE VERA-RUIZ

The prevailing intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a weather system that is a breeding ground for potential low pressure areas and tropical cyclones, will likely continue to bring rain showers over parts of the country this Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, ZamboangaSibugay, and the whole Visayas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to be alert against possible flash floods or landslides over low-lying or mountainous areas due to severe thunderstorms.

It has not issued a gale warning but advised sea vessels of moderate to occasionally rough seas over the coastlines of Northern Luzon due to moderate to occasionally strong winds coming from the northeast to east.

Meanwhile, only slight to moderate seas will prevail over the rest of the country

So far, PAGASA does not expect the formation of a low pressure area or tropical cyclone that may affect the country throughout the week.

Based on PAGASA’s historical record, one or two tropical cyclones enter or make landfall over the country in November.
