'Samuel' disrupts classes in Naga City, Sorsogon

SORSOGON CITY - Classes in Naga City, Camarines Sur and five towns in Sorsogon were suspended on Wednesday as Tropical Depression made its presence felt in the Bicol region.

The Bulan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) announced the suspension of classes from pre-school to high school yesterday.

Classes in all levels of both public and private schools in Bulusan town were also suspended on Wednesday due to inclement weather.

Mayor Alfredo Cielo, Jr of Irosin and Mayor Sharon Rose Escoto of Gubat on Tuesday night suspended Wednesday classes in pre-school and elementary levels in public and private schools.

Cielo also advised personnel of MDRRMC, search and rescue team of Irosin town, barangay officials, government employees and other concerned department­s and agencies to take all disaster protocols to mitigate the possible impact of the tropical depression as it is expected to bring rains over Southern Luzon.

In Camarines Sur, Mayor John Bongat ordered the suspension of classes effective noontime Wednesdy in pre-school, elementary, junior and senior high school levels in public and private schools.

"In order to ensure the safety of school children and students, classes in pre-school, elementary, junior and seniorhigh­schoolleve­lsarehereb­y ordered suspended effective 12:00 noon today, 21 November 2018," Bongat said in advisory.
