No killing, kidnapping around España area – MPD

The Manila Police District (MPD) debunked rumors that there were stabbing or gunshootin­g incidents España Boulevard in Manila following the social media posts on alleged incidents around the area since December 3.

Senior Insp. Ana Lourence Simbajon, public informatio­n office chief of MPD clarified that no student was stabbed, kidnapped or gunned down along España.

Insp. Edgardo Alombro, commander of the University Belt Area Police Community Precinct also confirmed that there have been no such incidents.

According to PO1 Philip Valles of the PNP UST outpost, the incident that took place near the España footbridge at 11:56 p.m. on December 3 was not caused by an active shooter around the area.

A police report showed that a male student allegedly fell from Cayco footbridge on December 3 at around 11:54 p.m. He is currently recuperati­ng in a hospital.

Another confirmed report also showed that there were two incidents of holdup victimizin­g students along España, which happened around 4 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Police said that the students who were victimized were safe and three out of five suspects have already been arrested on Tuesday night.

MPD said that they are still investigat­ing the reports and they have increased police visibility along España Boulevard in Manila.
