Malasakit Center now open in Bulacan

- By FREDDIE C. VELEZ

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Bulacan residents can now expect ample hospitalization assistance from government agencies following the inauguration of a Malasakit Center, led by former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go at the Bulacan Medical Center in this city Tuesday afternoon.

The Malasakit Center is a program of the government which aims to serve as a one-stop shop housing satellite offices of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) and Department of Health (DOH) to hasten the delivery of medical services and give poor patients access to free medicines.

Go explained to the audience at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium how the Malasakit Center can help a hospital patient and his or her family deal with sky-high bills.

He said that the Malasakit Center is a part of the Duterte’s administration thrust to cater to the poorest of the poor Filipinos who need medical assistance.

Go handed a check for R10 million to Bulacan Medical Center as initial budget for its operations.

“Dahil mayroon ng Malasakit Center, nasa isang kwarto na lang ang lamesa ng mga ahensya ng gobyerno na kakailanganin ninyo, hindi na kayo mamamasahe at hindi na mauubos ang oras ninyo. At kung mayroon pa kayong matitirang balanse, ang Malasakit Center na ang magbabayad nito dahil mayroon din itong pondo mula sa ating gobyerno,” Go said.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado thanked President Duterte through Go for puting up a Malasakit Center in the province.
