BENILDE LITERARY FOLIO EARNS CMMA AWARD
The 40th edition of the esteemed Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA), which pays tribute to media “that enhance the total human development of the Filipino audience through the competent and professional use of mass media techniques,” recently recognized the literary talents of the young student-artists and journalists of The Benildean Press Corps (BPC) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).
The official student-journalists’ organization of the institution bagged the much-coveted Best Student Literary Publication Award for Shades of Gray: Convalescence, the 20th issue of the literary folio of the Benildeans, the first ever CMMA win of the College.
The creative anthology exhibited the refreshing stories of the convalescent— from the concept of life as a “spinning cycle of recovery and resolution” with “tales about chaos and strife” and “bits and pieces of a rectified conflict.”
head of the Student Publications Office, takes pride as the BPC marked a milestone for the institution. “Not only does it validate our contribution to the College, but it also shows our fellow Benildeans—and even the wider academic community—that we can be a force to be reckoned with,” Lago shared. “Benilde is known for its innovative approach to education and the arts. In this context, I would like to think that we are already proving that Benilde can also be known for its innovative approach to communications and storytelling.”
“In this day and age, it’s becoming increasingly important that we produce better storytellers, because they are the recorders of our history, achievements, and humanity,” Lago noted. “Shades of Gray: Convalesence is a testament and
