Tail-end of cold front, amihan to bring rains, severe thunderstorms

The Bicol Region, Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas will experience scattered rain showers with at times severe thunderstorms that may trigger flash floods or landslides due to the prevailing tail-end of a cold front.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the tail-end of a cold front will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms over Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and Samar.

It warned residents in these areas of possible landslides or flash floods over mountainous or low-lying areas during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, and Aurora may experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

The amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The public was also advised to be extra cautious against possible landslides or flash floods during severe thunderstorms.

A gale warning remains in effect as sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, eastern seaboard of Aurora, eastern coast of Quezon including Polilio Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes, eastern coast of Albay, eastern coast of Sorsogon, and eastern seaboard of Northern and Eastern Samar.

Only slight to moderate seas will prevail over the rest of the country.
