No special treatment for BuCor chief’s son – PNP

- By AARON RECUENCO

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Monday vowed that there will be no special treatment accorded to the son and namesake of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Nicanor Faeldon.

In fact, Albayalde said there has been no preferential treatment extended to Nicanor Faeldon Jr. since his arrest in an alleged drug den in Naga City last week.

“He will be given due process and contrary to what other people are saying, there will be no special treatment. Everybody is being treated equally here,” stressed Albayalde.

The younger Faeldon was collared along with four other individuals in Naga City in a raid on a suspected drug den last week.

Faeldon Jr. said he was only staying in the house with his girlfriend, whose father was the subject of an arrest warrant.

While he tested negative for illegal drugs, the police still charged Faeldon for his, presence in the alleged drug den.

The local police said it is up to the court to decide on the case.

“It is not on the result of the drug test which he is being charged, but he will be given due process,” said Albayalde.

The official said the operation in Naga City is but a proof that there is no let up in the PNP’s compliance to President Duterte’s order to rid the country of illegal drugs.
