LTFRB accepting 20,000 TNVS applications
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will accept an additional 20,000 transport network vehicle service (TNVS) registration applications until early January next year.
The Board, on Monday, opened the additional slots for TNVS registration due to low turn-out of applications for Certificate of Public Convenience of TNVS units included in the masterlist submitted by transport network companies.
The masterlist includes TNVS units accredited by TNCs and submitted to the Board as basis to allow operators to operate pending the filing of applications.
According to the LTFRB, those who are included in the masterlist submitted by the TNCs were given a deadline until December 15 to apply for CPC or franchise.
"However, even though there was enough time given to those included in the masterlist, the number of CPCs was still insufficient that prompted the Board to reopen the online registration," the agency stated.
In February this year, the Board has raised its proposed common supply base of 47,500 TNVS units to 66,750 units in Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, and Pampanga.
But in the latest data from the LTFRB, only at least 35,000 TNVS units have CPCs and Provisional Authority (PA).
Interested applicants can register online through the LTFRB website at ltfrb.ph.net/tnvs until January 3, 2019.
