Flyover leading to Cavitex opened
The traffic buildup at the entrance of Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) in Pasay City is expected to be resolved with the full opening of a four-lane flyover Tuesday.
The flyover was opened following the completion of its southbound lanes.
A left-turning ramp was also constructed to complement the flyover.
With the opening of the flyover and the left-turning facility towards Pacific Drive leading to Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, the area will be decongested, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, who graced the inauguration ceremony, said.
About 140,000 vehicles are expected to use the flyover daily.
Villar said vehicles used to be held up in the area for five to 10 minutes, slowing traffic flow on entering the expressway.
“It’s a great help because vehicles used to be stuck in traffic when there was still no flyover in this area. As vehicles take a left turn, other vehicles entering the expressway need to wait and then traffic becomes worse,” he said.
More space for motorists will be provided when Phase 2 of the project is completed by the fourth quarter of 2019.
“The province (Cavite) is booming with real estate developers, trade investments and movement in tourism and we expect more vehicle to use Cavitex to and from Parañaque, Las Piñas, Cavite and the cities of Manila and Makati,” Villar said.
Cavitex is part of a road network being expanded by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, the road infrastructure arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
Metro Pacific Investments with its subsidiary Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation led the inauguration of the expressway’s road project enhancements which was graced by officials from the company’s government partners such as the DPWH, Department of Transportation, Toll Regulatory Board, Philippine Reclamation Authority, and local government of Parañaque.
