The dream of K-pop group Girls’ Generation’s Pinoy fans came true when leader Taeyeon held her first solo concert in the Philippines recently.

Despite the heavy traffic in Metro Manila that day, fans packed the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City for “S... Taeyeon Concert In Manila.” “Kamusta kayo mga beshie? Long time no see. Na-miss n’yo ba ako?” Taeyeon told her fans. “It’s been such a long time since I came here to the Philippines, right?”

The last time Girls’ Generation visited the Philippines was in 2015 when they performed at a concert together with other K-pop artists.

For fans, it was a memorable night. Taeyeon opened the show with “Here I Am,” a new song followed by “I Got Love” and “Fire,” two tracks from her 2017 album, and “Love You Like Crazy.”

Pinoy Sones (collective name for Girls’ Generation fans) were cheering Taeyeon from the start, prompting her to say, “I think we’re seeing here the hottest ‘s’ con today. How long have you guys been waiting for me? I also waited a long time for you guys.”

Taeyeon said that before coming to Manila, “there were a lot of things that happened. But I thought that meeting you guys is the most important thing. I’m gonna go back to Korea thinking that my decision to come here wasn’t wrong. So I hope we end the concert as I’m thinking right now.”

During the concert, which lasted a little over two hours, Taeyeon showed her vocal prowess through a variety of songs including “Something New,” “Do You Love Me?,” “Rain,” “All Night Long,” “Baram 3X,” “Why,” “One Day,” “Gemini,” “Christmas Without You,” “I’m All Ears,” “Gravity,” “Fine,” “Feel So Fine,” “Time Lapse,” “Circus” and “I.”

Taeyeon praised Pinoy fans, saying “you guys really know my songs well. There was a time when I came here as Girls’ Generation but this is my first time as a solo. I really didn’t expect this support from you guys so thank you so much.”

“I think today’s concert will be very memorable for me. I’m so happy that I

was able to sing for you guys. It’s been a long time. I’m so happy that I was able to receive your energy and your passion,” she said.

As fans kept cheering her on, Taeyeon commented that “it feels like a World Cup. I really, really feel that if we go to the World Cup, we’re going to win.”

She said the venue reminded her of the place where she held her Christmas concert, saying, “It’s kind of similar in terms of the atmosphere. It’s really my first time to experience a hot December. Actually it’s really good.”

Taeyeon revealed that because of the weather in Korea, she was feeling a little bit down lately “but I think this moment is when I’m laughing the most.”

“For me, every day is a roller coaster. It’s fun. But among those times, the moment that I laugh the most, talk the most and feel emotions the most is when I perform,” she added.

At the concert, Pinoys fans held up banners which read, “PH Sone, Here I Am” and “You’ve been our 11:11 wish.” Taeyeon showed the banners on stage and said, “You guys are so cute. Mahal ko kayo!”

As she wrapped up her show, Taeyeon told the audience “Guys, I won’t forget this night. I think today is really special. I’m getting the most energy from everywhere. Today’s a really special night. You guys are the best.”

“If you guys call for me, I’ll come back to see you again,” she promised.

“’S... Taeyeon Concert In Manila” was presented by SM Entertainment, Dream Maker Entertainment Limited, and Pulp Live World.
