CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – All the 120 children, who reportedly fell ill after eating spaghetti in a Christmas Party last Tuesday, have already gone home, a progress report late Tuesday afternoon sent to regional command and action center of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) said.

In a progress report to PRO 13 Regional Director Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) and Lianga Municipal Police Station (MPS) said all the children, aged five to 10 years old, have already gone home in the company of their respective parents.

The medical expenses of the victims were shouldered by the caterer of the school’s Christmas party, the Lianga MPS report said.

In their initial report on December 14, 2018 at about 3:30 p.m. Lianga MPS and Surigao del Sur PPO received a report from a concern citizen that 120 children from Saint Christine Elementary School, in Lianga town of that same province were brought to Lianga District Hospital allegedly due to poisoning from spaghetti which was served during the Christmas party.

The children suffered stomach ache, dizziness and vomiting, which prompted the school officials and parents to bring them to the Lianga District Hospital for medical treatment.

“All the children are already safe including the last 30 children who went home the other day to their respective barangays of that same town,” said PRO 13 Regional Public Information Officer Supt. Christian Rafols, quoting the progress report from Lianga MPS.

Lianga MPS is still investigating the incident, he added.
