2 killed, 4 arrested in Metro Cebu drug sweep

CEBU CITY — Two drug suspects were killed, four others were arrested and close to 150 million worth of shabu were seized in a series of anti-drug operations in Metro Cebu.

A buy-bust on Christmas Day led to the arrest of Rejie Boy Abesia in Sitio Cogon, Barangay Basak Pardo.

Recovered from Abesia’s rented house were nine packs of shabu worth 146,240,000, police said.

Abesia claimed he was just hired as a courier for 12,500 a week.

A day after Christmas, another drug suspect was killed after he allegedly exchanged fire with the police in San Fernando town, Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Richard Rivera Sangcap.

Police said they seized three packs of shabu with an estimated value of 12,060,400, two .45 caliber pistols and a .38 caliber revolver from Sangcap’s house.

On Thursday, a 43-year-old drug suspect was killed when a composite police team launched synchroniz­ed operations.

Police said Dexter Rabago was killed after he and his alleged companions resisted arrest in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City.

Arrested were Josepino Salonoy, 48; Levin Doronea; 27; and a 17-yearold boy.

Among those items seized from the suspects were a .45 caliber pistol, a 9mm revolver and 27 packs of shabu worth 1817,000.

As of 6 a.m. Thursday, the Cebu City Police Office had conducted eight drug busts and arrested eight persons.

Packs of shabu weighing 71.93 grams worth 1489,000 have been seized.

The operations will end at midnight today, Friday, according to the Central Visayas Police.
