More development in store for Cavite – Bong Go

-

CAVITE – The Duterte government will continue to prioritize Cavite’s infrastructure development as well as the delivery of social services there, former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and senatorial candidate Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go vowed.

"Huwag kayong mag-alala dito sa Cavite. Tuloy ang pagbabago, tuloy-tuloy ang pag-unlad dito (You Cavite folk need not worry. Change will continue, progress here will continue),” Go said in his message during the Ugnayan sa Barangay held Tuesday afternoon at the Capitol Hills Executive Subdivision Phase 1 Covered Court in Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The former SAP gave the assurance to Caviteños even as he noted that the province has a special place in the heart of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Go was warmly welcomed by an entourage composed of Cavite Governor and congressional candidate Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, former Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, Cavite Board Member and PBMLP National Board Ryan Enriquez, Trece Martires mayoral candidate Gemma Lubigan, and local leaders of the area.

Cavite, Go said, is an important contributor to the country’s economic growth thanks to its location and business-friendly environment.

"Malaki ang naitutulong ng mga Caviteño sa pag-unlad ng ating bansa. Kung kaya’t ginagawa ng pangulo ang lahat ng makakakaya niya para mas mapalago pa ang probinsiya ninyo (Caviteños contribute a lot in nation-building. That’s why the president is doing everything he can to further develop your province),” he said.

The Duterte government through its infrastructure modernization program called “Build, Build, Build” has earmarked several big ticket projects designed to spur even more growth and development in the province and its people, according to Go.

Right-of-way acquisition-related activities are ongoing for the R35.43-billion pending road projects consisting of the 44.63-kilometer closed system CaviteLaguna Expressway connecting the CAVITEX in Kawit, Cavite and SLEX in Binan, Laguna.

Also in the pipeline are preconstruction activities for the R64.9-billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Cavite extension, which will run from the existing Baclaran station to a planned station at Niyog in Bacoor, Cavite.

Likewise, Go announced that a Malasakit Center will soon open in Cavite. The particular Malasakit Center will cater to the financial and medical needs of poor and disadvantaged residents of the province.

"Mahalaga ang kalusugan ng mamamayan para mas makatulong sa paglago ng pamumuhay ng pamilya kaya kailangan natin tugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga may sakit (Good health is vital since it will lead to the improvement of the family’s way of life, as such we must address the needs of the sick)," Go told those in attendance.

The Malasakit Center, a brainchild of both Go and Duterte, is a “one-stop shop” where agencies like the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), PhilHealth, and other relevant government satellite offices are housed together in one location. It eases the process that patients in need of speedy medical and financial assistance go through.

Currently, there are 20 Malasakit Centers operating in various parts of the Philippines. Go, who is running for senator under the administration slate this coming May, intends to add to this number through a law that would mandate the creation of Malasakit Centers in all provinces and urban centers of the country.
