1 dead, 1 nabbed in Valenzuela buy-bust
An alleged drug personality was killed while another was arrested in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Kabatuhan, Gen. T. De Leon, Valenzuela City on Saturday.
Police identified the slain suspect as Roger Penelleri, alias “Mayor.” Arrested was Anthony Carval, 33, barker, and resident of the area.
Elements of the Valenzuela City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the sting at about 2:30 a.m.
Investigation showed that a poseur buyer bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth from Penelleri. When the policeman signalled to back-up operatives, Penelleri suddenly drew his firearm and traded bullets with the police. Police retaliated and hit the suspect on different parts of his body. He was rushed to Valenzuela Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival at about 2:55 a.m.
Meanwhile, police arrested Carval, who was the first customer of Penelleri, at the scene of encounter. A sachet of suspected shabu was seized from Carval.
Retrieved from the crime scene were a caliber .38 firearm loaded with four live bullets and two fired cartridges, and four 9mm fired cartridges.
Police also recovered 11 sachets of suspected shabu, an empty plastic sachet,
in cash, and drug paraphernalia from Penelleri. Police said appropriate charges will be filed against Carval, who is now under police custody.
