Are you ready for the Year of the Pig?

Blessed with beautiful personalit­y and good fortune, the Earth Pig will bring in the Chinese New Year on February 5, 2019. It promises to be an auspicious period of prosperity and success in many spheres of life.

Already, the magic of the coming New Year can be felt at The Manila Hotel. The grand and elegant Main Lobby shimmers with golden bamboo bending in graceful arches, adorned with pretty red lanterns – a modern Prosperity Garden. This ethereal display is an art installati­on created by renowned designer Rachy Cuna.

To delight our guests, The Manila Hotel has prepared a series of special treats and unforgetta­ble experience­s to properly kick off Chinese New Year.

Shop for the special nian gao, also called tikoy, available at The Lobby from January 14 to February 6. The pigshaped cakes, with their adorably chubby faces and big ears, are the perfect traditiona­l gifts for family and friends. They are available in two flavors: Pandan and white sugar.

The traditiona­l Chinese New Year festivitie­s will kick off at the auspicious time of 10:15 a.m. on February 5, 2019, with a Lion Dance performed by the renowned Golden Lion dancers. The dance will begin with the Dotting the Eye Ceremony at the main entrance, after which the lions will parade around the hotel to the rhythmic beat of drums – a tradition designed to scare away evil spirits. The God of Fortune, in his colorful garb, will spread prosperity and good hotel.

At Red Jade, the premier Chinese restaurant, the chef and his team will enchant diners with two set menus comprising 10 dishes each, including such gastronomi­c treasures as Long Life Crab Claw with Minced Shrimp, Crispy Fried Pigeon, and Baby Rock Lobsters in Cheese and Butter with E-fu Noodles. The Chinese New Year set menus will be available from February 3 to 6, 2018 at Red Jade, for both lunch and dinner.

More festive dishes will grace the Chinese station at Café Ilang Ilang,. Special dishes will grace the buffet station on the New Year’s Eve dinner on February 4, 2019, and New Year’s Day lunch on February 5, 2019.

Chinese New Year at The Manila Hotel is so colorful and delightful, that you will most certainly wish to stay.
