CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City — Police operatives confiscated R1,416,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested two drug suspects Wednesday night in Purok 4, Barangay 5, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz, regional director of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), said the operation stemmed from the report that illegal drugs were being sold at a lodging house in the targeted area.
Members of the drug enforcement unit (DEU) of San Francisco Municipal Police Station (MPS) arrested Sammy Noron, 36 of Purok 2, Jambulan, Monkayo town, Compostela Valley (ComVal) province, and Marissa Monte, 27 of Purok-5 -A, Magatos, Asuncion, (Saug) Davao Del Norte.
The raid, conducted at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday by members of DEUs of San Francisco MPS, also led to the recovery of suspected shabu weighing 120 grams worth more than R1.4 million, drug paraphernalia, and a caliber .45 pistol with six rounds of ammunition.
Cruz lauded the cooperation of the local community in San Francisco town in the anti-illegal drug campaign and assured them of the arrest of individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade.
“We are very much serious to put an end to the remaining illegal drug operations in some parts of the region and we are eyeing to make Caraga a drug-free region in Mindanao,” he added.
