Flora Filipina expo set in Quezon City
The Philippine Orchid Society will stage Flora Filipina Expo 2019 in cooperation with the Quezon City government on February 24 to March 5, 2019, at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Diliman, Quezon City.
The event aims to promote Philippine floriculture in the international market with the support of the country’s top garden societies, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Tourism.
The event also gives local growers and other stakeholders to learn the latest information and technologies that will help them become more competitive in the field of floriculture. In addition to the exhibit of exquisite orchids and ornamental plants, a highlight of Flora Filipina Expo will be a special exhibition and competition of Phhilippine bonsai trees and Suiseki stones as well as a colorful bougainvillea extravaganza.
To be featured are superbly grown orchid specimen plants, beautiful landscape exhibits showcasing the best and rarest Philippine flora, trade fair, technical conference, daily lectures, farm tours, cultural presentations and the opportunity to network with relevent industry stakeholders.

Meanwhile, here is the schedule of lectures. Andres Golamco Jr. will talk on Basic Orchid Growing on Feb. 27 (Wednesday). On Feb. 28, Lino Rom will talk on Basic Care of Cacti & Succulents for Beginners.
On March 1, Cel Tungol will talk on Introduction to Native Trees. This will be followed on March 2 by a lecture on Trends in Flower Arranging by the Floral Designers’ Circle. On March 3, Anthony Arbias will talk on growing ferns in the Philippines.
Norby Bautista will talk on Controlling Pests and Diseases of Orchids on March 4. On the last day, March 5, Allied Botanical Corporation will tackle Sowing and Planting Enchanting Flowers in Pots.
