NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 opens Feb. 26

The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Harbor Link Segment 10 will be open to the public starting February 26, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced Wednesday.

The elevated expressway traverses the cities of Valenzuela, Malabon, and Caloocan and is expected to ease traffic bottlenecks as it diverts approximately 30,000 vehicles daily away from the busy streets of Metro Manila. It will also hasten delivery of goods as cargo trucks will have 24/7 direct access from the Port Area to provinces in Central and Northern Luzon and vice versa.

Along with the full opening of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 is the partial opening of the new Caloocan Interchange – the fourth gateway of NLEX to Metro Manila, after Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue, and Karuhatan.

The new Caloocan Interchange serves as the point where the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10, the C3-R-10 section, and the NLEX Connector will converge.

“Before, travelling from Caloocan to NLEX will take you an hour, but with this harbor link, it will only take you five minutes,” said Villar during the final inspection of the road on Wednesday.

“This is part of our master plan to connect the north and south of Luzon via high-speed highways,” he added.

Villar said about 30,000 vehicles – mostly trucks – are expected to traverse the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 everyday, which will greatly help in decongesting traffic in Metro Manila.
