AIA appoints new Philam Life CEO

AIA Group, Philam Life’s Hong Kong-based parent company, has appointed Kelvin Ang, who brings

with him a wealth of experience from his 21 years of service with AIA, as the new Philam Life Chief Executive Officer.

Ang, who will assume his role as Philam Life CEO effective March 1, 2019, replaces Ariel Cantos, who is retiring after 35 years of dedicated service and loyalty to the company. Cantos will be staying on senior advisor until March 31, 2020.

He will also continue to sit as a Board Member of Philam Life and will remain as the Chairman of the Philam Foundation.

Ang, most recently served as the Chief Agency Officer (CAO) of China and General Manager of Shanghai, he played a key role to the success of AIA China’s business growth, and effectivel­y led the agency transforma­tion in Malaysia from 2015 to 2018.

Moreover, he has been supporting AIA Hong Kong, China and Vietnam, with a strong track record in driving and delivering business results, building scale in the premier agency force across the company.

For his part, Cantos said: “It has been a privilege to have served Philam Life during an important period of transforma­tion. I now pass the baton to Kelvin, my successor, who will continue to deliver on our promise and commitment to our customers.”
