4 killed in police operations

BATANGAS CITY – Four criminal suspects, including a drug suspect who was charged of raping his daughter, were killed by police in separate operations in the province, the Batangas provincial police reported Friday.

Police said Benzon Dela Paz, about 40 years old, of Balayan, Batangas, was killed during a drug bust at around 4:35 a.m., Friday in Barangay Bayudbud, Tuy town.

Dela Paz’s companion escaped on a motorcycle but police recovered a cal.9mm pistol and several sachets of suspected shabu.

In San Jose town, an unidentifi­ed robbery suspect was declared dead in a hospital from gunshot wounds.

A police patrol was inspecting feedmill and financial establishm­ents along the national highway in Barangay Taysan at around 3:30 a.m. when it noticed a suspicious man standing near a feedmill company.

When the patrol was about to approach the suspect, he drew a gun and shot at the officers, who fired back.

Police recovered from the suspect a cal.38 revolver, a crowbar, roof-cutter, steel saw, bonnet, facemask, black travel bag and a pair of slippers.

In Malvar, police killed a man identified only as Dan after he tried to avoid arrest during a drug bust in Barangay Poblacion at around 3:20 a.m.

Police recovered a cal.45 and a motorcycle from the suspect.

In Barangay Sinala, Bauan, a drug suspect named Christoper Reynaldo was killed during a drug bust late Thursday night.

Police Reynaldo was charged of raping his 7-year-old daughter several times and a case was filed at Batangas Provincial Prosecutor’s Office last Feb. 19.
