2 examiners per subject for 2019 bar examinations
The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to have two examiners in each of the eight subjects covered by bar examinations starting this year.
In a resolution, the SC approved the “two-examiner policy” on recommendation of Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas Bernabe, chairperson of the 2019 bar examinations, for efficiency due to increasing number of examinees yearly.
“Acting on the recommendation of Associate Justice Estela M. PerlasBernabe, sitting en banc, resolves to approve the adoption of a general policy to designate two examiners per subject for the bar examinations,” SC said in a resolution.
The bar examinations are administered yearly by the SC through its bar examinations committee and given on four Sundays in November.
For 2018, the committee was headed by Associate Justice Mariano C. Del Castillo. It is expected that the results would be released first week of May this year.
Subjects covered by the examinations are Political and International Law, Labor Law and Social Legislation, Civil Law, Taxation Law, Mercantile Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law, and Legal and Judicial Ethics and Practical Exercises.
The two examiners per subject policy was first implemented in 2009 and 2010. Thereafter, the SC returned to its one examiner per subject policy.
